MEN’S SOCCER

The Forester men’s soccer team showed grit and composure against one of the NAIA’s elite, battling third-ranked Bethel University down to the wire before ultimately falling 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Morey Field.

The Pilots (11-2-2, 5-1-1 CL) managed the game’s lone goal just 12 minutes in, but from there, it was an even battle as HU stood tall against a program that entered the match averaging 2.3 goals per outing.

The Foresters (3-8-4, 1-5-1 CL) showed no fear down the stretch, dictating much of the late action. Huntington generated three corner kicks and four shots in the final 20 minutes while pressing for the equalizer, but the Pilots’ back line held firm to preserve the shutout.

Keeper Zane Hydock anchored HU’s defense with six saves, matching Bethel’s shot total nearly one-for-one in a tight, well-contested contest. Huntington will look to carry the same energy into the final stretch of the regular season when they travel to Taylor on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
