WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Huntington women’s basketball team opened the 2025–26 season in commanding fashion Thursday night with a 78–34 victory over East-West University inside Platt Arena.
Facing a first-year program, the Foresters set the tone early and never looked back. HU’s defense clamped down from opening tip, holding the visiting Phantoms to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters to build a 60–21 cushion heading into the final frame.
Offensively, Huntington showed impressive balance and depth. Six different Foresters connected from beyond the arc as HU finished 11-for-34 from long range. Every player in uniform saw minutes, with nine different Foresters getting on the scoresheet.
Kyndell Jochim led the way with 14 points on four triples, while freshman Allison Price made a memorable collegiate debut by posting a double-double of 13 points and 11 boards. Liv Raby added 12 points and nine rebounds, and Annaka Nelson chipped in 11 points, including a trio of threes. Addie Shank joined the double-digit club with 12 points off the bench.
The Foresters dominated the glass with a 52–38 rebounding advantage and assisted on 20 of their 32 made field goals while limiting East-West to just 20 percent shooting for the night.
With the win, Huntington starts the season 1–0 and will look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s 3:00 p.m. home matchup against St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
