MEN’S SOCCER

The HU men’s soccer team closed out its regular season under the lights at King Stadium Wednesday night with a gritty 0-0 draw against Mount Vernon Nazarene. The two sides entered the match tied in the Crossroads League standings with identical conference records, and after 90 minutes of physical, hard-fought play, that tie remained intact.

It was a meaningful evening for the Foresters as they honored 11 seniors prior to kickoff, recognizing their commitment and impact on the program. Both teams fought to the final whistle, each generating scoring opportunities — HU finished with eight shots to the Cougars’ 11 — but neither could break through.

Sophomore keeper Zane Hydock turned in another steady performance between the posts, collecting three saves to record his third shutout in four outings.

The draw gives Huntington a 4-8-5 overall record, including a 2-5-2 mark in league play. With the result, HU edged MVNU for the No. 7 seed in the Crossroads League Tournament thanks to a superior goal differential (-3 to -10). The Foresters will open postseason play Tuesday, traveling to face second-seeded Indiana Wesleyan, with game time to be announced.
