WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team wrapped up its 2025 campaign Wednesday evening with a 4-0 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene at CH4 Stadium. The setback not only closed out the regular season but also marked the end of the year for the Foresters, who finished tied for eighth with Saint Francis in the Crossroads League standings. With the Cougars owning the head-to-head win earlier this month, HU (7-9, 2-7 CL) came up just short of the final tournament berth.

Despite the scoreline, Huntington put together a competitive effort, logging 13 shots to the Cougars’ 14, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Keeper Macie Sanders tallied seven saves in the loss.

The 2025 season proved a step forward for HU, as the team’s seven wins were its most since 2017 when the Foresters finished 10-8. Junior forward Sophie Shepherd led the way offensively, pacing the squad with nine goals and four assists for 22 total points.

Coach Keaton Albert expressed his appreciation following the match: “Thank you to our seniors for your impact and legacy in this program. Your leadership and impact will leave a lasting mark here. Thanks to my awesome staff for all the hard work and dedication you put into the season, I’m grateful for you! To the team, we have learned and developed and grown — thanks for your commitment and dedication to do so.”
