Another Reason to Keep Your Grades Up

Can I lose my aid if my grades are bad?

Yes. You can lose both your HU and federal financial aid if you don’t meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). This includes keeping at least a 2.0 GPA and completing enough credits to stay on track for graduation. If you do lose eligibility, you may be able to appeal — but it’s much easier to stay ahead of it.

Struggling? HU has incredible free resources to support you:

  • ACE (Academic Center for Excellence) — Free tutoring and academic help Open 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, Second floor of the library
  • Writing Center — Free help with any writing assignment Open Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Second floor of the library
  • Counseling Services — Free emotional and mental‑health support
  • Chaplains — Spiritual support and guidance

Reminder: If you haven’t filled out your FAFSA yet, take a few minutes and get it done at studentaid.gov.
