OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The Forester men’s and women’s track & field teams battled the elements at the 121st annual Indiana Little State Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University, with two very different competition days shaping the weekend. Friday featured sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s, while Saturday brought cold, wind and rain to close out the historic meet.

Dating back to 1905, the Indiana Little State Championships remains one of the longest-running collegiate meets in the state, now focused on small, non-Division I programs.

On the women’s side, Anna Jeannin led the way with Huntington’s lone event title, clearing 1.64 meters to win the high jump.

The Foresters added several top-10 performances across the board. Addyson Dowler turned in a strong showing in the sprints, placing sixth in the 100 and eighth in the 200. Saniya Brinkley grabbed 10th in the 400, while Mackenzie Brewer finished eighth in the steeplechase. Kadynce Hutsell rounded out the top-10 finishes with a ninth-place effort in the long jump.

For the men, the highlight came on the track in the 4×800-meter relay. The quartet of Ben Roberts, Jaden Kropp, Luis Flores and Jayden Williams raced to a third-place finish in 7:41.01, hitting the NAIA B standard – Huntington’s lone national qualifying mark of the meet.

The field events also delivered strong results. Caleb Farr claimed third in the pole vault, while Kharrington Terry added a fifth-place finish in the high jump to cap the Foresters’ top performances.

Next up for Coach Austin Roark’s crew is the Drake Relays in Des Moines on April 22-25.
