WOMEN’S TENNIS

The #4-seeded Huntington women’s tennis team delivered a dominant postseason performance Monday afternoon at Klopfenstein Courts, sweeping #5 Bethel 4–0 in the Crossroads League Quarterfinal to advance to the semifinals.

Huntington set the tone early by securing the doubles point, continuing a trend that has fueled much of its late-season success. From there, the Foresters wasted no time closing out the match in singles play.

Ashley Bucur struck first in singles action with a win at No. 4 to give Huntington a 2–0 lead. Isabella Herrera followed with a strong performance at No. 1 singles, pushing the advantage to 3–0. Addison Mast sealed the match at No. 3 singles, clinching the Foresters’ spot in the next round.

The sweep adds to Huntington’s success against Bethel this season after earning a 5–2 victory over the Pilots in regular-season play.

With the win, Huntington advances to face No. 1 Marian in the Crossroads League Semifinals. The match is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Indiana Wesleyan University’s Sutter Tennis Center.

Winners of six of their last seven matches, the Foresters continue to build momentum at the right time as they prepare for a semifinal showdown with the league’s top seed.
