The HU men’s soccer team proved they could play toe-to-toe with the nation’s best on Wednesday night. Facing off against #3 Indiana Tech at Warrior Athletic Field, the Foresters (1-3) went blow-for-blow with the Warriors for 90 minutes before falling in a 2-1 heartbreaker.

After a grueling 70-minute defensive stalemate, the final 20 minutes ignited into offensive fireworks. Huntington struck first in the 73rd minute on a set piece to break the deadlock. Ugnius Zenkovas sent a perfectly placed restart into the heart of the box, where Daniel Ojedayo elevated above the crowd to hammer a header into the back of the net. The strike marked Ojedayo’s first goal in Forester green and gave HU a late lead against the #3 team in the country.

However, the celebration was short-lived. Indiana Tech (5-1-1) regrouped quickly, finding the equalizer in the 86th minute. After a deflected shot, Filip Maksimovic tracked down the loose ball and sent it back netting to level the match. The Warriors then secured the comeback in the 89th minute as Robin Vezinhet headed home a service from Zak El Hannach to snatch the 2-1 victory with just 1:47 remaining on the clock.

Junior goalkeeper Zane Hydock went the distance in net for the Foresters, recording three saves on the five shots on goal he faced. Huntington finished the match with four total attempts compared to Indiana Tech’s 14.
