A high-octane offensive display and a rapid late-game response propelled the Huntington men’s soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon at King Stadium.

The Foresters (2-3) seized early control in the 16th minute. Following a scramble for possession near midfield, Max Nayo corralled the loose ball, accelerated past three Blue Devil defenders, and slotted a clean finish past the keeper to open the scoring. Huntington carried that 1-0 edge into halftime before striking again early in the second stanza. In the 51st minute, the Forester backline cleared a dangerous ball to Godslove Mensah, who settled possession in the box and delivered a touch pass to a streaking Nayo for an easy tap-in and a 2-0 advantage.

Lawrence Tech (1-4-2) mounted a late push in the 82nd minute when a Forester foul inside the penalty area awarded a spot kick to Timotej Murcko. Murcko narrowly slipped his penalty past junior goalkeeper Zane Hydock to trim HU’s cushion to 2-1 with under nine minutes remaining.

Any lingering tension vanished just 90 seconds later courtesy of Micah Colvin. After a Lawrence Tech defensive clearance landed at his feet in the box, Colvin sizzled a strike into the far post at the 82:33 mark to restore a two-goal cushion. Less than two minutes later, Hydock launched a booming ball downfield that Samuel Edem flicked into stride for Colvin, who buried his second strike into the back of the net to record his first two collegiate goals and ice the contest.

Lawrence Tech held a 16-13 advantage in total shots and an 8-7 edge in shots on goal. Hydock earned the victory in net, turning aside five of the six shots on goal he faced across the full 90 minutes, aided by a pair of team defensive saves from Leo Oster and Jonathan Ruiz.
