WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The Huntington University women’s volleyball team collected two of the three Crossroads League weekly honors Monday, with senior setter Lauren Ross (Decatur, Ind.) earning Setter of the Week honors and sophomore outside hitter Maggie Hollon (Warsaw, Ind.) being named Attacker of the Week.

The honors come after the Foresters rolled to a perfect 4-0 week, highlighted by Ross reaching the 2,000-career-assist milestone.

Ross orchestrated Huntington’s offense with 179 assists across the four victories, averaging 11.2 assists per set. She saved her biggest performance for a five-set victory over IU-Northwest, where she delivered a career-best 60 assists.

The senior setter also contributed across the stat sheet, finishing the week with eight kills, 40 digs, six blocks and five aces. Monday’s honor marks Ross’s second Crossroads League Setter of the Week award of the season.

While Ross was setting the table, Hollon was doing plenty of damage from the outside.

The 5-foot-10 sophomore erupted for an eye-popping 6.1 kills per set during Huntington’s four-match winning streak. Hollon posted a career-high 32 kills in the five-set win over IU-Northwest before following that with 29 kills in another five-set thriller against Saint Francis.

Hollon added 39 digs and four aces during the week as she helped lead the Foresters to four straight victories. Monday’s award marks her third Crossroads League Attacker of the Week honor this fall.
