WOMEN’S SOCCER
While the HU women’s soccer team gave up just one goal Saturday afternoon, they were never able to find back netting to suffer a 1-0 loss to Siena Heights at O’Laughlin Stadium.
Saints posted 29 shots on the afternoon but was only able to cash in on one compliments of Huntington’s stingy defense. The game’s only goal came 12 minutes in. Huntington’s opportunities were limited with Ella Theard, Paige Weiss and Janae Good the only Foresters to fire off a shot.
Ireland Aerni took the loss in goal but saved ten shots. The loss drops HU to 2-4 on the season.
“We began the game passing the ball around well but then we lost our composure and started playing ugly soccer,” said Coach David Lewis. “With three games next week, we need to return to the style of play we’re developing.
“Ireland played well in net using her athleticism and provided strong communication.”
All three of HU’s games next week are on the road with their next trip slated for Tuesday at IU Kokomo.
