WOMEN’S SOCCER
Up against one of the nation’s best, the Huntington women’s soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss to #2 Marian Saturday afternoon at King Stadium.
The Knights kept play in their half of the pitch most of the day to fire off 36 shots. They made good on two of those shots in the first half and then found back netting three more times in the final 45 minutes.
Savannah Grove took the loss in goal for HU. The freshman keeper finished with 15 saves.
“Playing a nationally ranked Top 20 team for the fourth time in six games is a tough assignment, especially for a young team that starts six freshmen,” said Coach David Lewis. “This team never quits, they’re showing improvement, and learning valuable lessons. It was a strong team effort and today Savannah Grove played very well in goal. We’ll take some time to recover and heal as we prepare for our next match.”
The Foresters (2-12-1, 0-6) are back in action Saturday to host Bethel for their last home match of the season.
