BASEBALL

The Huntington baseball team (24-10) took a break from league play to hand IUPUC a 9-4 loss at Forest Glen Tuesday afternoon.

It’s the fifth meeting of the season between these two squads with the Foresters dominating the series 4-1.

HU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third and never looked back. Bryce Deckman cranked one over the left center field fence for a two-run blast after which the Foresters perfectly executed a delayed double steal that allowed Ian McCutcheon, who had made his way on base with a single into left, to sneak home. For Deckman it was his second dinger of the year.

The Crimson Pride got one back in the fourth before Max Moser doubled in a run in the fourth and Jarret Gray cleared the right field fence for a three-run shot in the fifth to balloon the lead to 7-1. Gray has four homeruns to his name so far this year.

Langston Ginder then wrapped things up for Frame’s crew with a solo shot in the sixth, his eighth homer of the season second only to Satchell Wilson who has nine long balls. Two frames later his found a hole in right to drive in another run. His pair of RBI-hits were on either side of an IUPUC two-run homer.

Five different Foresters took a turn on the bump with Max Meisner claiming the win. He tossed the third and fourth frames where he fanned three batters while giving up a hit and run.

HU jumps back into league play on Thursday with a trip to Grace.
