MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Forester men’s basketball team boasts two of the league’s top ten players according to the preseason polls as announced by the Crossroads League office earlier today.
Coming into the season, senior Zach Goodline (Coloma, Mich., Coloma, Mich.) has been tabbed the best player in the Crossroads League as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
As last season’s CL Player of the Year, Goodline averaged a team-best 20.9 points in addition to handing out a team-leading 5.0 assists and pulling down 3.5 rebounds per night. He currently sits 15th on HU all-time scoring list with 1,760 career points for 18.9 ppg. The 6-1 guard has been a three-time preseason All-League pick.
Joining Goodline as a preseason First Team selection is junior Lane Sparks. The 6-3 guard poured in 19.3 points per night for Alford’s crew last winter. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals. He needs just 13 points to join HU’s 1,000 point club.
The Foresters, who finished tied for second last season in the CL regular season standings, is picked to finish third in the league this year. Grace was voted the top team in the CL with IWU predicted to finish second.
Huntington kicks off the season by hosting Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 28.
