WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Forester women’s soccer team went toe-to-toe against one of the nation’s best in #7 Indiana Wesleyan before giving up a late goal to suffer a 1-0 loss at King Stadium Wednesday night under the lights.

The Wildcats, currently tied for the top spot in the conference with Spring Arbor, finally cracked a gritty HU backline with twenty minutes to go to break up the 0-0 stalemate. The win is IWU’s fifth straight as they improve to 13-1-3 overall, 7-0-1 in league play.

While it wasn’t the outcome Huntington was hoping for, their play was impressive and their never-say-die attitude was indisputable with evidence coming by way of Hannah Johnson’s shot on goal in the box with just under a minute remaining.

After all the dust settled, Wesleyan outshot their hosts 16-4 and also owned the corner kick battle 6-0. Ireland Aerni finished with seven saves in goal for Huntington.

HU (6-9-1, 2-6) wraps up the regular season on the road Saturday at Marian.
