Weather Safety Reminders

As we transition from threats of challenging winter weather to the potential for severe spring storms, please be reminded of a few safety tips. First, educate yourself for storm shelter locations in buildings you frequently access for work, class, or other activities. Generally, storm shelter locations are the lowest point within a building or an interior room without windows. Emergency Response Guides are located in offices, classrooms, and commons areas (e.g., lobbies) and contain information related to safety procedures. On the main campus, each building has a designated number and an exterior sign to identify it. Be familiar with this number for buildings you are in frequently, as this can be helpful if communicating your location in an emergency situation. Finally, please be sure you are signed up for HU’s emergency notification system. Students, faculty, and staff can sign up on the HU Portal (or click here).
