After splitting with the Maple Leafs Friday, the Huntington baseball team stormed back to pick up a pair of road wins, 6-2, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Yoder Field for the 3-1 series win.

Since 2006, the Foresters have only lost 12 times to the Maple Leafs while racking up 37 wins.

The opener saw a 1-1 deadlock through the first four innings before the guests pulled away in the fifth and sixth by padding their lead to 5-1 after which both teams each plated one more run to make for the 6-2 final.

Noah Arbuckle limited the hosts offensively from the mound by allowing just six hits, two runs and three walks while striking out eight through the first eight frames before Isaac Horton tossed a hitless, scoreless inning of relief.

In addition to being hit twice by pitches, Matt Wolff went 2-for-3 at the plate which included two for extra bases to lead his team offensively. Both his extra bases, a triple and double respectively, drove in a run. Kade Flores and Jordan Malott each singled in a run and scored once, Flores on a wild pitch in the first and Malott on Gregory Nolasco Berroa’s sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Malott led the charge offensively in the nightcap by knocking in his team’s first run with a single into center in the first frame and then wrapping up the scoring with an RBI-two bagger in the seventh. Huntington’s middle run was at the bat of Sebastian Kuhns by way of a sacrifice fly in the third. The third was also when Goshen plated their only run on the first of only two hits they were able to muster.

RJ Anglin was to blame for Goshen’s offensive woes. The rookie hurler gave up a mere two hits, a run and four walks while striking out 11 for the complete-game win.

The Foresters (21-14, 16-8) take a break from league play to host IUPUC on Tuesday for a single nine at 4:30 p.m.
