WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The Huntington women’s volleyball team took down the University of Saint Francis Cougars on Wednesday night in Platt Arena (25-16, 12-25, 27-25, 25-20). The Foresters have won four consecutive matches over the Cougars.

The Foresters (13-9, 5-5) won the opening set, and the Cougars (8-14, 1-9) took set two. The third set included 10 ties and nine lead changes. The Foresters led 24-21 but the Cougars would not go away quietly. With the score tied at 25, HU scored on a USF service error before a Trevyn Terry block sealed the 27-25 set win. The Foresters got out to a 11-4 lead in set four, but the scrappy Cougar squad fought back to tie it up at 13 apiece. With the score tied at 20, the Foresters went on five-point blitz, highlighted by a Terry kill to seal the four set victory.

Terry led the Foresters offensive attack with seven kills on just 11 total attacks. Haley Kruse added seven kills, while Kortney Grimm and Leah Carter each contributed six kills each. Lauren Ross handed out 29 assists to go with six kills of her own.

HU will look to avenge a tough five-set loss to Bethel when they host the Pilots this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Platt Arena.
