After honoring the seniors before the opening serve, HU fell behind 7-4 in the first set. Makailah Thompson set up Haley KruseMaisyn Robrock, and Kortney Grimm on three straight Forester kills to tie the score. Kruse’s powerful serve delivered two consecutive aces and HU capped a seven-point run with a Robrock kill. The run ignited the Forester faithful and put the hosts in control the rest of the match.

In a true team effort, seven different Foresters notched kills. Kruse and Grimm led HU with eight and seven kills respectively. Leah Carter walled up for five blocks, while Trevyn Terry and Lauryn Hardy helped on three blocks. Layla Meyer covered the backline with 16 digs to stifle the Lancers’ attack.

“In the midst of adversity, we have focused on two things: Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus and staying together. I’m deeply grateful to God for how He has worked in our hearts along the way to this team for their unity and work ethic,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “Today was a blast celebrating our seniors. Each one has impacted this program and my life in a beautiful and unique way. We want to give them the best ending to the season possible!”

With one game remaining in the regular season, the Foresters (14-15, 6-11) will host Spring Arbor on Wednesday in Platt Arena. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
