WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Forester women’s basketball team was well represented in the Crossroads League postseason awards as announced by the league office earlier today.
Topping the list for Maggard’s crew was senior Gabi Melby who was one of ten players voted First Team All-League. She currently ranks seventh among her CL peers in scoring (16.3 ppg) while topping the league in assists with her 6.3 average. A Second Teamer last season, the 5-7 point guard also pulls down 4.1 rebounds and swipes a team-best 1.2 steals per night.
Sophomore Bailey Kelham, last year’s Crossroads League Freshman of the Year as well as a member of the First Team and All-Freshmen squads, earned Second Team All-League accolades this winter. Always a threat from deep, the 5-9 sharpshooter has knocked down 87 three-pointers this season, the second most among her league peers, at a clip of 38.5 percent. She averages 13.7 points to go along with posting 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
Kelham leads the league at the line where she is shooting 88.2 percent (67-for-76) while sitting 13th in scoring.
Joining Kelham on the Second Team was sophomore Liv Raby. A member of the All-Freshmen Team last year, the 6-1 forward has poured in 14.6 points per outing this season while ripping down a team-best 6.9 boards and swatting 1.9 shots. She tops the league in blocks while ranking second in field goal percentage at 54.0 percent (167-for-304), seventh in rebounding and tenth in scoring.
The Foresters (17-12, 10-8) will find out Thursday night if they receive an at-large bid to the national tournament.
