MEN’S GOLF

The Huntington University men’s golf team put together a stronger showing in Round 2 of the Battle @ Blackthorn, improving by 13 strokes to close with a team total of 621 (+45) and a seventh-place finish in the 36-hole event.

After opening with a 317 (+29) on Monday, the Foresters bounced back with a 304 (+16) on Tuesday.

Cooper Trigg led the way, following up his opening 79 with a superb 70 (-2) for a two-round score of 149 (+5). His second-round 34 on the front nine set the tone for the team’s turnaround. Steven Webb was the model of consistency, firing back-to-back 78–72 for 150 (+6) to finish just behind Trigg.

Carter Hall posted rounds of 78–77 (155, +11), while Trey Spring contributed with scores of 82–85 (167, +23). Josh Kling shot 85–91 (176, +32).

Taylor University ran away with the team title at 576 (E), highlighted by a closing 285. Bethel (+19, 595) and Spring Arbor (+20, 596) rounded out the top three.

Huntington’s jump from 317 to 304 showcased resilience on a demanding Blackthorn layout, led by standout rounds from Trigg and Webb that anchored the Foresters’ performance.
