MEN’S TENNIS

The Huntington men’s tennis team turned in an impressive performance at the annual ITA Regionals hosted by Indiana Wesleyan at Sutter Tennis Center, a four-day event that wrapped up Saturday.

Four Foresters advanced to the quarterfinals of the 64-player main singles draw, showcasing the team’s depth and competitiveness against some of the best talent in the region. Leading the way was No. 2 seed Julian Tantera, who strung together a series of strong wins en route to the championship match. Tantera’s run capped with a showdown against top-seeded Matheus Lima of IWU, where he ultimately settled for runner-up honors.

Tantera also made noise in doubles play, teaming up with fellow Forester Javier Lopez Real. Seeded second overall, the HU duo battled their way to the semifinals — the deepest advance for any Huntington pair in this year’s tournament.

The Foresters now turn their attention to closing out the fall portion of their schedule on October 11, when they welcome Davenport to Klopfenstein Courts.
