WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team ran into a nationally ranked powerhouse Saturday night, falling 7-0 to No. 23 Grace at 1st Source Bank Field. With the win, the Lancers improve to 9-0-2 overall and 2-0 in Crossroads League play while posting their ninth shutout of the season.

Grace wasted little time seizing control, finding the net twice in the opening 15 minutes and adding two more goals before intermission for a commanding 4-0 halftime advantage. The hosts kept the pressure on after the break, tacking on three more tallies to round out the lopsided win.

The stats underscored the Lancers’ dominance as they outshot HU 20-2 and earned 13 corner kicks while keeping the Foresters from registering any. With the setback, HU drops to 5-4 on the year and 0-2 in league action. The Foresters return home Wednesday to King Stadium where they will host Spring Arbor at 6:30 p.m.
