2026-2027 FAFSA
Grants, loans, scholarships…it all starts with FAFSA!
The 2026-2027 FAFSA is open. Filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) allows students to be considered for several types of financial aid that help pay for college. Specifically, completing it can make students eligible for:
- Federal Grants – such as the Pell Grant, which does not have to be repaid
- State Aid – many states (including Indiana) use FAFSA information to award scholarships, which do not have to be paid back
- Federal Student Loans – low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education that must be repaid after graduation or leaving school
- Institutional Aid – colleges and universities often use FAFSA results to determine eligibility for their own scholarships, grants, or tuition discounts
- Some Private Scholarships
