WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The Huntington University volleyball team faced one of its toughest challenges of the season on Saturday, dropping a straight-set decision (23-25, 19-25, 21-25) to No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan inside Luckey Arena. The loss moves the Foresters to 22-6 overall and 10-5 in Crossroads League play, while the Wildcats improve to 21-4 overall and 14-1 in conference. 

The Foresters stayed within striking distance in each set, showing resilience against the nationally ranked Wildcats. Huntington finished with a .168 team hitting percentage, paced by Maisyn Robrock‘s 10 kills on a .217 clip. Maggie Hollon followed closely with nine kills, while Haley Kruse added seven kills, 11 digs, and a service ace. 

Lauren Ross directed the offense with 22 assists and chipped in three kills, while Kennedy Urban sparked the service line with four aces. Defensively, Layla Meyer and Olivia Krahn anchored the back row with 12 and 8 digs, respectively. 

“My expectations with this year’s team is that when we put ourselves in a position to win a set, we are now supposed to win the set no matter who it is on the other side of the net,” said head coach Kelsey Herber. “We want to focus on taking opposing teams’ soft shots and utilizing them to generate our tempo offense. Today, too many of them scored. We want to be the best versions of ourselves as we finish these last three conference matches before post-season!”

Huntington will look to regroup as the Foresters return home on Wednesday to take on Goshen in Platt Arena. First serve is set for 7:00pm.
