VOLLEYBALL

The Huntington volleyball program was well represented in the 2025 Crossroads League postseason awards announced earlier this afternoon by the league office, with five Foresters earning recognition. Headlining the list is senior libero Layla Meyer, who was voted the 2025 Crossroads League Libero of the Year.

Meyer capped off a remarkable regular season by leading the league in both total digs (631) and digs per set (5.44). She also ranks second among all league players with 0.44 service aces per set (51 total), while adding 116 assists as the anchor of HU’s back row. The 5-3 defensive specialist has amassed 2,079 career digs, the third-highest mark in program history. She joins former standout Stephanie Stearns as the only two Foresters ever selected as Libero of the Year.

The senior also earned a spot on the All-Crossroads League First Team, marking her fourth straight postseason honor. Her career résumé includes Second Team recognition as a freshman as well as a member of the All-Freshmen Team and Honorable Mention selections in each of the last two seasons.

Joining Meyer on the First Team is graduate student Haley Kruse, who caps an accomplished regular season as a four-time All-League honoree. The 5-7 six-rotation pin hitter has delivered a stellar all-around performance in 2025, leading Huntington with 325 kills (2.80 per set)—ranking seventh in total kills and ninth in kills per set across the league. Kruse adds 238 digs (2.05 per set), 50 service aces (0.43 per set)—third-best in the league—and 32 blocks while averaging a team-high 3.4 points per set. She currently owns 1,203 kills, 857 digs, 166 aces and 126 blocks in Forester green.

Senior middle blocker Leah Carter earned her third consecutive Crossroads League honor, named to the Second Team after back-to-back Honorable Mention nods. Carter is Huntington’s most efficient attacker, posting 204 kills on a .281 hitting percentage, the fifth-highest mark in the league. She averages 1.77 kills per set and leads HU’s defensive presence at the net with 102 blocks (0.89 per set). To date, she has totaled 760 kills and 379 blocks in her Forester career.

Freshman outside hitter Maggie Holon has made an immediate splash in her debut season, earning Second Team honors and a spot on the All-Freshmen Team. Holon ranks second on the team with 288 kills (2.62 per set), placing 12th in total kills and 14th in kills per set in the league. She has also added 30 blocks and 44 digs, showcasing her versatility and competitive poise.

Rounding out Huntington’s honorees is junior setter Lauren Ross, an Honorable Mention pick who has excelled as the Foresters’ primary floor general in a 4-2 system. Ross averages 6.02 assists per set, ranking seventh in the league, and has totaled 775 assists while adding 52 kills and 287 digs (nearly 3.0 per set). She now has 1,508 career assists, with another year still ahead of her. This marks her second career league accolade, having been named to the All-Crossroads League Second Team as a sophomore.

The Foresters hold a 24-8 overall record and finished third in the Crossroads League standings (12-6). The 24 wins mark the program’s highest total since 2007. Coach Herber and her squad will learn later tonight whether they have secured an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament, as they await the official announcement from the national office.
