MEN’S TENNIS
The No. 10 Huntington men’s tennis team continued its strong run through Crossroads League play with a dominant 6–1 victory over (RV) Bethel University Saturday afternoon at South Bend Racquet Club.
The Foresters set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1–0 lead. The duo of Julian Tantera and Santiago Sarudiansky opened with a convincing 6–2 win at No. 1, while Pablo Lopez Real and Martin Capdevilla followed with a 7–5 decision at No. 2. Juan Carrasco and Mateo Batista capped the sweep with a tightly contested 7–6 victory at No. 3.
HU carried that momentum into singles, winning five of six matches to secure the team victory.
At the top spot, Tantera delivered a straight-set win, 7–5, 6–2, over Dimitar Berdankov. Capdevilla battled through a three-set match at No. 2, rallying after a first-set loss to claim a 2–6, 7–6, 6–3 victory. Sarudiansky continued his strong play with a 6–4, 6–0 win at No. 3.
Batista added another point with a decisive 6–1, 6–4 win at No. 4, while Carrasco dominated at No. 5 with a 6–1, 6–1 performance. Bethel’s lone point came at No. 6 singles.
With the win, the Foresters (14-3) remain perfect in Crossroads League play at 5-0 and continue to build momentum as the conference schedule progresses. Huntington returns to action on Tuesday with a road trip to Goshen set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
