WOMEN’S TENNIS

The HU women’s tennis team closed out the regular season in dominant fashion Friday at Klopfenstein Courts, sweeping both Taylor and Mount Vernon Nazarene to extend its strong late-season push.

Huntington opened the day with a 5–0 victory over Taylor, setting the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the point. Isabella Herrera and Yariange Bello led the way at No. 1 with a 6–3 win, while Coby Sander and Ashley Bucur followed with a 6–4 decision at No. 2. Addison Mast and Tiziana Rizzato completed the doubles sweep with a 6–1 victory at No. 3.

In singles play, the Foresters continued their momentum with straight-set performances across the lineup. Herrera controlled the No. 1 match 6–2, 6–0. At the same time, Bello added another point at No. 2. Mast and Bucur were both dominant in the middle of the lineup, each earning convincing wins, as Huntington quickly secured the team victory.

HU carried that momentum into the afternoon matchup against Mount Vernon Nazarene, delivering a flawless 7–0 sweep.

Once again, Huntington controlled doubles play, picking up wins at each spot to claim the early advantage. From there, the Foresters left no doubt in singles action.

Herrera, Bello, Mast and Rizzato each earned 6–0, 6–0 victories at the top four spots. After which Ava Christiansen added a strong win at No. 5, as Huntington completed the shutout to cap off a perfect day.

With the pair of victories, the Foresters finish the regular season having won five of their last six matches, building significant momentum heading into postseason play.

Huntington (12-11, 6-3) officially clinched the No. 4 seed in the Crossroads League Tournament and will host No. 5 Bethel in the quarterfinals. The match is scheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Klopfenstein Courts.
