The #RV Forester baseball team kept the momentum rolling Friday afternoon, extending its win streak to nine with a dominant road sweep of Spring Arbor at Hank Burbridge Field. Huntington erupted for an 18-6 run-rule win in the opener before riding a pitching gem to a 4-0 shutout in game two.
Game 1 – Huntington 18, Spring Arbor (7 innings)
Game one turned into a full-blown offensive showcase.
The Foresters racked up 18 runs on 14 hits and five home runs, breaking things open after a brief early deficit. Keifer Wilson set the tone immediately with a two-run blast in the first and finished a monster game 3-for-4 with four runs scored and four RBI, adding a second homer later in the contest.
Owen Willard was just as dangerous, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and four runs scored, while Braden Kauffman delivered the knockout punch with a grand slam as part of a 2-for-2, four-RBI performance that also included two walks.
After trailing 4-3 through three innings, Huntington seized control in the fourth, plating six runs before pouring it on late by outscoring the Cougars 9-2 the rest of the way. Cam Clarkson, Zach Pelletier and Tanner Reinartz all contributed RBI base smacks, with Reinartz finishing with two hits and two RBI.
Jace Fowler ignited things at the top of the order, scoring three runs and reaching base four times. As a team, HU drew eight walks to complement its 14-hit attack.
On the mound, Max Engle picked up the win to improve to 8-0, going five innings while allowing six runs (four earned). Aidan Micinski shut the door with two scoreless frames to secure the run-rule victory.
Game 2 – Huntington 4, Spring Arbor 0
Game two was a completely different story—this time, it was all about pitching.
RJ Anglin stole the show with a dominant complete-game shutout, striking out 12 of the 24 batters he faced while allowing just three hits and no walks on an efficient 71 pitches. Spring Arbor never found an answer for the junior right-hander, who controlled the game from start to finish.
Offensively, the Foresters didn’t need much.
Wilson stayed hot, launching his third homer of the day, a two-run shot in the third, to give HU all the breathing room it needed. Tanner Reinartz added an RBI double in the fourth, and Kade Flores chipped in a run-scoring groundout in the seventh to cap the scoring.
Huntington totaled five hits in the nightcap, with Reinartz, Fowler, Willard and Kauffman each recording a hit alongside Wilson’s homer.
With the sweep, the Foresters improve to 32-9 overall and 22-8 in Crossroads League play and will look to keep the streak alive in Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cougars beginning at 1 p.m.
