MEN’S TENNIS
The No. 10 Huntington men’s tennis team capped off a historic regular season in dominant fashion, sweeping both Taylor (4-0) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (7–0) to secure the Crossroads League regular season championship.
With the pair of victories, the Foresters finish a perfect 9–0 in conference play, earning the No. 1 seed in the Crossroads League Tournament. The title marks Huntington’s first regular-season championship since the 2013-2014 season.
Huntington opened the day with a 4–0 victory over Taylor, clinching the match after sweeping doubles and winning three singles courts. Julian Tantera and Santiago Sarudiansky led the way at No. 1 doubles with a 6–4 win, while Pablo Lopez Real and Martin Capdevilla, along with Marco Silveira and Paul Reupke, each earned 6–0 victories to secure the doubles point.
In singles play, the Foresters continued their control. Capdevilla rolled to a 6–0, 6–1 victory at No. 2. Sarudiansky followed with a 6–2, 6–0 decision at No. 3, while Pablo Lopez Real added a 6–2, 6–1 win at No. 4.
The Foresters carried that momentum into their matchup with Mount Vernon Nazarene just a few hours later, producing another sweep. Huntington once again secured the doubles point with wins across all three positions before delivering straight-set victories on every singles court.
In singles competition, Huntington did not drop a set on the way to giving up just three games. Tantera led the way with a 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 1, while Sarudiansky matched that effort with a 6–0, 6–0 victory at No. 2. Juan Carrasco added another dominant performance at No. 3 with a 6–0, 6–0 win.
Reupke secured a 6–0, 6–1 victory at No. 4, while Silveira earned a 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 5. Bryce Garland closed out the sweep at No. 6 with a 6–1, 6–1 decision to seal Huntington’s seventh point.
With today’s two wins, the Foresters wrap up the regular season with an 18-3 record, ten of which have been sweeps.
Huntington will now turn its attention to postseason play as the top seed in the Crossroads League Tournament. The Foresters are set to face 8th-seeded Saint Francis in tournament action, with the quarterfinal match scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at Klopfenstein Courts.
