WOMEN’S GOLF

Magnolia Miller wasted no time picking up where she left off. The Huntington University sophomore captured low medalist honors and broke two program records Wednesday as the Foresters opened the 2026-27 season at The Duel at the Rock, hosted by Bethel University at Rock Hollow Golf Club.

Miller, a Greenwood, Ind., native, opened with an even-par 72 and followed it with a 70 in the second round — the lowest 18-hole score in Huntington women’s golf history, breaking the mark of 71 set by Kira Moore in 2023. Her 36-hole total of 142 also erased a Moore program record, bettering the previous best of 146. Miller finished 2-under par for the tournament and was the only golfer in the 12-player field to break par.

The performance continues a remarkable run for Miller, who earned Crossroads League All-Conference honors as a freshman. She posted a team-best 77.2 scoring average over 18 holes last season while collecting three medalist honors, five top-three finishes and seven all-tournament recognitions.

Senior Madelyn Weaver (Claypool, Ind.) was the Foresters’ second-lowest scorer, placing sixth overall with rounds of 80 and 78 for a 158 total. Her second-round 78 tied her collegiate career low.

Freshman Adrianna Combs (Cincinnati, Ohio) turned in a strong collegiate debut, finishing eighth after carding an 84 and an 82 for a 166. Sophomore Aniyah Copeland (Archbold, Ohio) placed ninth at 83-85—168, and senior Riley Kitson (Nappanee, Ind.) competed in the second round only, posting an 80 that ranked as Huntington’s third-best round of the afternoon.

As a team, the Foresters shot 319 in the opening round and improved by nine strokes with a 310 in round two, finishing at 629 (+53). Huntington placed second of two teams behind host Bethel.
