MEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington men’s soccer team built a two-goal first-half advantage and battled to the final horn Wednesday night, earning a gritty 2-2 draw against No. 20 Spring Arbor at King Stadium.

The result marks the second consecutive deadlock against a ranked or receiving-votes opponent for the Foresters (3-4-2, 0-1-2 CL), who came into the contest fresh off a 0-0 road shutout at RV Grace over the weekend.

Huntington set the tempo early, breaking through in just the sixth minute of play. Pushing the attack quickly up field, Micah Colvin delivered a pinpoint pass into the box, finding Daniel Ojedayo at point-blank range in front of the frame to slot it home for a 1-0 advantage.

The Foresters doubled their cushion in the 24th minute courtesy of a brilliant individual effort from Godslove Mensah. Mensah intercepted a Cougar pass just across midfield, turned on the jets, and drove toward the attacking third before unleashing a strike from just outside the penalty box. His blast took a deflection off a defender and sailed over the keeper’s outstretched hands into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

For both Ojedayo and Mensah, the tallies marked their second collegiate goals in Forester green.

Spring Arbor (8-1-3, 0-1-2 CL) answered before the intermission, converting on a far-post header off a reset in the 41st minute by Pedro Rosa to cut the deficit in half. The Cougars found the equalizer in the 76th minute on another far-post header, this time finished by Micah Vasey off a corner-kick service.

Huntington outshot Spring Arbor 8-6 on the night, with each side putting three shots on target. Zane Hydock went the distance in goal for HU, recording one save on the three shots on frame he faced.
