WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Huntington women’s basketball team has two of the top players in the Crossroads League in senior Sam Vaughn and freshman Emily Seboe as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon.

Vaughn was one of eight players to be named First Team All-Conference. Her resume also includes being voted to the All-Freshmen Team as a rookie and receiving Honorable Mention accolades as a sophomore and Third Team praises as a junior.

The 5-7 point guard filled the stat sheet night after night this season as evidenced by leading her team in scoring (15.5), rebounding (8.2), assists (4.0) and steals (3.1). Vaughn currently ranks in the top five among her league peers in each of these categories which includes sitting atop the CL in steals and offensive rebounding (3.9).

Against Mount Vernon on January 30, Vaughn tracked down a career-high 18 rebounds for the third highest single-game total in the Crossroads League this season.

The Anderson native (Pendleton Heights HS) also nabbed a spot on the league’s first ever All-Defensive Team. Vaughn wraps up her career with 1,153 points to finish 20th on the program’s all-time scoring list. Additionally, she collected 623 rebounds, 411 assists and 252 steals during her time in Forester green and white.

Seboe (Loudonville HS, Millersburg, Ohio) came on strong in the latter half of the year to earn the respect of the Crossroad League coaches. In addition to being one of five freshmen named to the All-Freshmen Team, she was also tabbed Honorable Mention All-Conference.

In the last seven games of the season, the 5-11 forward posted 19.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Seboe finished the year averaging 10.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per outing.

The sharp-shooter spent much of her time beyond the arc where she canned a team-best 42 threes at a clip of 37.5 percent which proves the eighth best percentage in the league. She dropped in two long balls per game to rank ninth in the league standings for made three-pointers per game.

Against Saint Francis on February 6, the rookie standout poured in a career-best 28 points for the No. 9 spot in the league in stellar points per game.

The Foresters wrapped up 2020-21 with a 13-9 record.
