Class Attendance, Thanksgiving Break, Final Exams!
If you feel ill with COVID-related symptoms (i.e. – congestion, headache, fever, nausea, loss of sense of taste/smell, etc.), you should inform your instructors and not attend class that day. You should immediately contact COVID19@huntington.edu with information about your symptoms, and you will be given guidance and instructions for interacting with a physician through ForesterCare, being tested for COVID, and setting up meal delivery (if needed).
Please note that virtual instruction is reserved for students awaiting COVID test results or students who have entered a COVID-related quarantine or isolation. If your class is meeting face-to-face, you cannot simply opt for virtual (Zoom) instruction for personal convenience or for non-COVID-related reasons.
Students are expected to be punctual and regular in class attendance and to accept responsibility for all assigned work. Any student who has been absent for as many as one-third of the total class sessions for a course will have failed and will be suspended from the course. Within this framework, each instructor may set his/her own class attendance policy and will inform students of this policy at the beginning of the term. Class sessions missed because of illness or late registration will be counted as absences. There are no “excused” absences. Illness, funerals, athletic contests, and other necessary absences are included in the total number of absences counted. In case of extenuating circumstances, a suspended student may petition the Academic Concerns Committee to be readmitted to the class. At the discretion of the faculty member, missed work may be “made up.”
As a reminder, here is the class attendance policy from the Portal.
Thanksgiving Break is November 25-27. Students should not plan to leave campus early before Thanksgiving Break. Our policy states that unless it is a family emergency, students are expected to attend classes the week prior to the break and faculty are required to meet all of their regularly scheduled classes.
All classes will be delivered virtually beginning November 30, and final exams are the week of December 14.
Final Exams should be taken at the time assigned, and faculty are not obligated to accommodate requests to change the exam time(s).
