WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Points were hard to come by for the Huntington women’s basketball team Wednesday night at the McDonald Athletic Center and the Spring Arbor Cougars pounced on the opportunity by handing their guests a 71-45 loss.

The Cougars took a 10-0 lead right out of the gate and never looked back to make for the lopsided affair. There were several bright spots for the Foresters as they committed just 12 turnovers, swiped nine steals and tracked down 13 of their misses. Unfortunately, they struggled to consistently put the ball in the hole as evidenced by managing 18 field goals to SAU’s 29.

Maddy Robrock finished with nine points while Alli Vaughn and Konnor Gambrell added six apiece. Emily Seboe was her team’s leading rebounder with eight boards, half of which were of the offensive variety.

Spring Arbor was paced by Alex Long’s 18 points with all but two of those points coming in the opening 20 minutes. Taylor Folkema tossed in 13 points. Grace Shoobridge and Daelynn Jackson each chipped in ten.

HU (2-8, 0-3) returns to action on Saturday to host #21 Mount Vernon at 1:00 p.m.
