Forester Cup Champions Crowned!
Kyler Bourne and Noah Bise made quick work of the field in the inaugural Forester Cup Cornhole Tournament. Bourne and Bise never looked back as they never lost a match in the double-elimination event. The final match paired team Bourne/Bise against Nolan Morawski and Landon Caldwell. In the final pairing of the evening, the crowd of spectators grew to nearly six as they watched Bourne and Bise pour bag after bag into the cornhole. In the end, they were just too much for their opponents. The other story of the night was the amazing comeback of Trinity Burdick and Lindsie Chaplin. Faced with going back to their residence hall in the first game of the opening round of the elimination bracket, Burdick and Chaplin came back from being down 16 points to win that game and eventually the match. They battled their way through several more opponents in the elimination round only to suffer defeat at the hands of runners up, Morawski and Caldwell. Burdick and Chaplin would finish a respectable third place in the event.
All in all, the conditions were ideal for play. With temperatures nestled in the mid-70s and winds at only 8 mph, bean bag flight was not negatively influenced by any environmental factors. Players did, however, have to navigate some mighty slick boards but were able to make appropriate adjustments as play went on. Above all, there were no injuries reported during play. Competitive cornhole is not without risks and the organizers are indeed thankful the event was conducted injury-free.
