WOMEN’S GOLF

The HU women’s golf team weathered the elements to finish fourth at the Grace College Invitational Wednesday at Eagle Glen Golf Club by turning in a 378.

The one-round event saw Danielle Tinsley fire a team-leading 89 to finish 12th among a field of 30 golfers. Lexy Turpchinoff carded a 92 for the 15th spot while Lauren Slottke took 19th with a 96. Abby Sheehan (101) and Katie Springer (102) finished within a stroke of each other to round out HU’s scores.

“I’m proud of our players for not giving up today,” said Coach Patrick Davis. “The scores weren’t what we wanted, but I feel that we learned and improved in our mindset.

“The weather conditions made the course play difficult, but the players fought hard on every shot. We are looking forward to getting back at it on Monday.”

Grace earned the team title with a 327 followed by Indiana Tech (345), Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (373), HU (378) and Trinity Christian (422).

The Foresters are back in action Monday for The Sagamore Shoot Out hosted by IWU in The Sagamore Club in Noblesville.
