OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD
The outdoor track and field program opened up their season over the weekend at the Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan. Coach Roark took his distance athletes and a jumper to compete in likely one of the coldest outings of the year as the meet’s name suggests.
Several HU women found their way into the Forester record books. Emily Tedder and Malarie Pinwar dominated the 5000 meters by taking first and second at the meet in 17:42.50 and 17:45.40 respectively. Tedder’s time is the fourth best in Huntington history while Pinwar’s time is the fifth fastest on record at HU.
Deann Fry clocked in at 41:22.58 in the 10,000 meters which was good for third at the meet and tenth all-time in HU history. Josey Reineman had an outstanding performance in high jump to finish second with her leap of 1.60 meters which also lands her sixth in the Huntington record books.
Rounding out top three finishes at the meet was Kent Yoder in the 10,000 meters. He crossed the line in 31:24.27 good for third place.
Huntington is back in action on Thursday for the Marian University Open.
