TRACK & FIELD
For the second time this year, junior Erica Xayarath has been tabbed the Crossroads League Women’s T/F Field Athlete of the Week. This time around it’s an outdoor praise based on her outstanding performance at HU’s first outdoor meet of the season, IWU’s Polar Bear Invitational.
The Fort Wayne native dominated jumps by crushing the competition in high jump with a first-place leap of 1.74 meters. In addition to hitting the A standard, Xayarath’s performance also proved a new lifetime best, set a new HU record and is currently tops in the NAIA.
Xayarath was a double winner on the day as she also won long jump with her mark of 5.49 meters which is the second best jump in Huntington history.
The Foresters are back in action on Saturday at Taylor’s George Glass Invitational.
