MEN’S TENNIS
The top-seeded Huntington men’s tennis team continued its postseason run Wednesday afternoon, sweeping 4th-seeded Marian 4–0 in the Crossroads League tournament semifinals at Indiana Wesleyan’s Sutter Tennis Center.
Competing in a clinch-format match, the Foresters once again delivered an efficient performance, securing the doubles point before adding three straight-set singles victories to punch their ticket to the championship match.
Huntington took early control in doubles play, winning at No. 1 and No. 3. The tandem of Julian Tantera and Javier Lopez Real dominated 6–1 at the top spot, while Juan Carrasco and Mateo Batista followed with a strong 6–2 win at No. 3 to secure the opening point.
In singles, Batista quickly locked in HU’s second point at the No. 4 spot with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Not long after, Javier Lopez Real (#5 singles) and Santiago Sarudiansky (#3 singles) claimed victories within minutes of each other to seal the team result.
With the win, Huntington advances to the Crossroads League tournament finals for the third time in the last four seasons, continuing a sustained stretch of success for the program.
The Foresters will look to capture their first tournament championship since the 2011–12 season – a historic year in which Huntington also secured both the regular season and tournament titles.
The title match is tentatively scheduled for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Indiana Wesleyan, where Huntington will face the winner of the IWU/Grace semifinal.
